December 19, 2023To help remove the barriers of studying education, La Trobe has recently released a new aptitude test that can be used as an alternative to the CASPer test. The Aptitude for Teaching Assessment (AFTA), is approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching and is a non-cognitive scenario-based aptitude test. Best of all, it’s available online, on-demand and completely free.
La Trobe’s Bachelor of Education gives students the choice and flexibility to make a difference from their first day in the classroom. They’re able to learn about all levels of teaching before choosing a specialisation from year two of their degree. Students can also stay close to home, with the course available at all Victorian campuses.
Prospective student’s can register for the test and if they don’t pass on their first try, La Trobe will provide additional support material. If they don’t pass again, they’ll be contacted by the Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching, who’ll provide further support and information about pathways.
The AFTA test can only be used for entry into initial teaching education programs at La Trobe. If you’d like to learn more about the AFTA test, you can visit the website.
